Our Story

Daniel Nielsen, an entrepreneur, closed his spring factory in Denmark and set sail for Canada with his family in 1956. Dan’s Welding & Fabricating Ltd. opened in 1960 on Brant Street in Burlington, Ontario. In 1970, his son -- Eric Nielsen -- took over the reins, moved the shop to 3485 Mainway, and built the business to the prosperous enterprise it is today.

 

Sadly, Dan passed away Nov 24, 2000 at the age of 89 years old, but he had continued to be a part of Dan’s Welding into his mid-80s.

 

Eric’s hard work, skill and strong determination grew the business to a very successful level over his 35 years. Unfortunately, a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease in 1997 forced him into early retirement. Eric’s daughter, Allison, made the decision to join the company in 2004, making her the third generation managing this family business. Allison works with Bill Myers, General Manager, who joined Dan’s Welding in 1982. Bill’s knowledge and experience make him a very integral part of the company.

 

Of Dan’s Welding & Fabricating Ltd.’s 28 full-time employees, 10 have been with the company for more than 20 years! And the family part of this business is not just in the management; for among the staff there are brothers, cousins and children, as well. They are all working hard to keep Dan’s and Eric’s dreams alive.
